Organization

Solman, G. J. F., & Kingstone, A. (2016). Arranging objects in space: Measuring task-relevant organizational behaviors during goal pursuit. Cognitive Science. doi: 10.1111/cogs.12391. [postprint embargo  - contact for copy]
Participants search and organize in the left circular space, and plan target sequences in the square array of items on the right. In the right-hand planning space, participants aim to move from the black square to one of the green squares, through sequential access of neighbouring items. Participants navigate the left-hand circular space with a click-drag interface. Items within the middle ring can be moved freely relative to other items in the space, allowing for free organization. To 'access' an item, participants must locate that item, and drag it on top of the innermost pale circle.

Participants use the mouse to search through a heap of items. The search target on each trial is displayed in the green box on the right. To terminate a trial, participants must locate the target item and drag it onto the green target template box.

Participants use the mouse to navigate a large display, clicking and dragging to change position, and using the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Participants search for the target letter 'R' and terminate each trial by clicking on it.
